I Am the Light of the World | John 8:12-20
This Sunday we look at an important teaching of Jesus. Jesus is the fulfillment of the Feast of Tabernacles by proclaiming himself to be the light of the world. As the people would light huge lamps during the festival, Jesus comes to proclaim that he is the fulfillment of God's provision for his people. This sermon was preached by Samuel Vance.

Nailed to the Ground | Judges 4:1-24
This Sunday we look at the story of Deborah and Barak as judges of Israel. This story shows us a unexpected deliverer for the people of Israel. Though we may think the unexpected deliverer is Jael, the Lord is the ultimate deliverer of his people. This sermon was preached by Samuel Vance.

    Series: I AM
This Sunday we take a look at a familiar story. The woman caught in adultery shows us the kind of love Jesus has to us in not condemning us for the sin we have committed. Even though we deserve condemnation for our sin, Jesus has paid our debt and by faith we declared righteous. This sermon was preached by Samuel Vance.

    A One Hit Wonder | Judges 3:31
This Sunday we looked at the Judge Shamgar. God is able to deliver his people through unlikely people and unlikely means. The Bible shows us this idea fully in the Lord Jesus Christ who came as a baby and died on a torture device. God's deliverance through Jesus brought us a greater salvation than Shamgar eve could have done. This sermon was preached by Samuel Vance.

Seeking and Not Finding | John 7:32-36
    Series: I AM

This Sunday we continue through John 7. This passage reveals the folly of the religious leaders as they try to understand Jesus. Jesus reveals that he is going to go to the Father. The religious leaders still struggle to know who Jesus is and Jesus tells them that no matter how much they seek him they will not find him.

It’s About Who You Know | John 7:25-31
    Series: I AM

This Sunday we looked back again at John 7 and we see again the people's doubt of who Jesus is. They question him about being the messiah and Jesus says that they know him but that they don't know the One who sent him. They seek to arrest him, but Jesus' time has still not come for him to be taken and to give his life so that the kingdom of God may come.

    Proving Faith | Judges 2:20-3:4
This Sunday we finished the 2nd chapter and began the 3rd chapter of Judges. Things are pretty chaotic in this book and we see this Sunday how God is angry with his people. For some reason most people think that God is just angry towards sin and not towards sinners but Judges shows us the opposite. God is indeed angry with sinners and will judge sinners accordingly. If we miss this then we miss the grace of the cross.

Cycle of Unfaithfulness | Judges 2:6-19
This Sunday we finish chapter 2 of Judges. We looked at the complete downward spiral of God's people being unfaithful to God. This chapter sets us up to see how God uses others to judge Israel and how he raises up judges to deliver Israel. Of course, none of these deliverers can ever fix the sinful nature that his people have and so they will through the story of the Bible continue to be unfaithful. These deliverers can only point to a future deliver who will perfectly forgive God's people once and for all.

    Appearances Aren’t Everything | John 7:14-24
    Series: I AM
This Sunday we looked again at the scene of Jesus being at the Feast of Booths. We see more rejection from the people as Jesus goes into the temple to teach. He reasons with the religious leaders about their anger against him for healing a man on the Sabbath while they would circumcise a boy on the eighth day even if it fell on a Sabbath. The interesting thing is that if a boy wasn't circumcised then he wasn't able to be a part of the covenant community and wasn't able to worship in the temple, but Jesus heals a man who also couldn't go into the temple and be a part of the covenant community. Jesus is the one who brings us into the covenant community by faith and we are able to approach the throne of grace with confidence.

Weeping Over Disobedience | Judges 2:1-5
This Sunday we look at chapter 2 of Judges and begin to see a major theme in the book: disobedience. The people of God had failed to drive out the enemies of God. Although God has promised never to break the covenant he has made with his people, his people have broken the covenant and deserve punishment. The reality is that there has only been one person who has been faithful to the covenant and he took the punishment we deserved for breaking the covenant. Now in Jesus, those by faith are included in the blessings of one who has been faithful to the covenant.

Giving the Enemy Ground | Judges 1:16-36
This Sunday we finish the first chapter of Judges. It is surprising and telling that as we end with the first chapter we already see the them of the book: unfaithfulness. God's people have failed to drive out the people God had commanded. Now becuase of their unfaithfulness, God's people will reap the consequences of their disobedience. This will lead Israel to cry out for a deliver when these people rise up against them. This will lead us to the Judges of Israel but it more so points us to the greater deliverer Jesus Christ.

Slaying the Giants | Judges 1:8-15
    life-in-chaos-01
This Sunday we continued in the first chapter of Judges and looked at more of how Judah began to conquer the land God had promised to them. Despite the fact that the people they were fighting were giants, they continued to trust God and to take the land. We see multiple people living out their faith in God as they continued to obey God despite how intimidating it must have been to fight these giants. Luckily, even though Jesus Christ was intimidated in the garden by the task before him, he chose to do God's will and to bring salvation to all those who believe in him.

Eating Flesh & Drinking Blood | John 6:41-59
    Series: I AM

    I AM sermon-01

This Sunday we continue to follow the section of John 6 where Jesus talks about him being the bread of life. The Jews do not like Jesus doing this, but Jesus is trying to show them something important about himself and what he has come to do. They know that Jesus saying he is the bread that comes from heaven is a divine statement to make. Jesus goes on to explain that anyone who eats of his flesh and drink his blood will live forever.
